How to Print Digital Art: At Home, at a Lab, or Online

Every file in our shop arrives print-ready: 300 DPI, five aspect ratios, sized for more than thirty standard frames. What happens next is up to you, and all three routes below produce prints we would happily hang ourselves.

Printing at home

An inkjet with five or more inks will outperform any office laser for art. Load a heavier paper, 200 gsm or more, and choose matte or lustre over glossy for the styles we sell. In your printer dialog, set the paper type to match what is actually loaded; that one setting controls how much ink the printer lays down and fixes most washed-out prints.

Print the file that matches your frame ratio. An 8x10 frame takes the 4:5 file, a 12x18 takes the 2:3 file. No cropping or resizing needed, the files are already proportioned. I Am An Audrey ships with all five, and its page lists the exact sizes the file covers.

Using a local print shop or pharmacy counter

Load the file on a USB stick or upload through their site, order the exact size, and pick it up the same day. Ask for matte photo paper. The counter machines at pharmacy chains are genuinely good for sizes up to 11x14; for bigger statement pieces, a dedicated print shop gives you thicker stock and better color.

Ordering from an online lab

For large sizes, online labs are the sweet spot of price and quality. Upload the file, choose the size printed on it, and select matte or fine art paper. Standard shipping usually arrives within a week. If the lab asks about color profiles, sRGB is the right answer; our files are exported in sRGB so labs print them accurately by default.

A quick checklist before you print

• Use the ratio file that matches your frame, no cropping needed
• Matte or lustre paper, 200 gsm or heavier
• Printer paper-type setting matched to the loaded paper
• sRGB color, which is how the files ship
• Print one small test before a big statement size
