1. Know your file

Most Etsy downloads are a single high-resolution 8×10 file, a 4:5 ratio, and a few include an 11×14 or a second orientation. The 8×10 file also prints cleanly at 16×20 and 4×5. For an 11×14 or 5×7 frame, print it at 8×10 and add a mat, or ask the lab for a small white border. Prints bought here come with five files instead, one for every standard frame ratio up to 24×36.

2. Print at a lab, a copy shop or at home

A photo lab or print counter gives the best result: ask for matte or luster paper, print at actual size, no scaling and no borders. At home, use heavyweight matte paper and the printer's best quality setting. Either way, never let the software "fit" or stretch the image.

3. Frame it

Any standard frame of that size works. A mat (a frame one size up with a cut mat) is the single cheapest upgrade: it makes a $5 print read like a $100 one.
